Dr Donald Li

Donald Kwok Tung Li is a specialist in Family Medicine in private practice. He was President of the Hong Kong College of Family Physicians, a position he has held from 1998 to 2004. He is the newly elected President of WONCA Asia Pacific Region for 2007-9.

Dr Li graduated with his first degree (BA) from Cornell University , USA , followed by his second degree (MBBS) from the University of Hong Kong , Hong Kong , in 1975 and 1980, respectively. He is an Honorary Fellow of the Hong Kong College of Family Physicians, Honorary Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, Honorary Fellow of the Hong Kong College of Dental Surgeons and Fellow of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine. Dr Li holds a number of other distinguished professional memberships, including Hon. Secretary of the Past President's Advisory Committee of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine.

He is an active member of many Hong Kong governmental and public health bodies. He dedicates much of his professional time to academia and teaching, including Membership of Council of Cornell University; Honorary Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Medicine, University of Hong Kong; Honorary Adjunct Associate Professor in Family Medicine at the Chinese University of Hong Kong; Honorary Consultant at Huashan Hospital, Shanghai, China; and Lecturer of the Diploma of Family Medicine of the Hong Kong College of Family Physicians as well as examiner of the conjoint RACGP / HKCFP Fellowship Examination. Dr Li has been a member of the Ethic's Committee of the Medical Council of Hong Kong since 1996. Dr Li is also a member of the Board of directors of the Hospital Authority.

Dr Li is a Director of the Bauhinia Foundation Research Centre, a civic think tank. He is also a member of the Board of Stewards of the Hong Kong Jockey Club. Dr Li serves on the council of the St. John's Ambulance of Hong Kong as well as Council on Smoking and Health (COSH)..

Dr Li has been an invited speaker at numerous local, regional and international scientific meetings. Throughout his career, he has been a leading expert and ardent advocate in promoting better primary care and family health in Hong Kong and the region.
